As a child in Trinidad Kathleen Dubois realized she had an intrinsic talent for beauty. She recalls doing her family and friends hair as a youth and fondly imagining herself as a hairdresser in the future. As a graduate of both the Wilfred Academy as well as the School of Hair Design Kathleen specialized in extensions. She learned How to do weaves which is her favorite thing to do in beauty she loves to work with natural hair (dread locks). She has been generating a stir with our local Manicure/Pedicure clientele. Mrs. Dubois soothing hand and foot massages infuse eastern and western Aromatherapy techniques using all natural hypoallergenic scents and essential oils. Her advise to all of those who want to persue a carreer in the beauty industry is "If you believe in yourself and you follow through with your goals you will succeed". She is a Certified Nail technician a Licensed beautician and works at the Franc Michael Salon in Brooklyn, New York. She gives the best hand massages and surrounds you with the exotic scents of Aromatherapy which she has been using for years and highly recommends.
Also a native of Trinidad, as a teenager Charmaine started spending time learning about beauty and practicing make-up application as well as her styling and cutting skills. Mrs. Mckenzie immediately discovered she had a very serious love for the Art. While attending Trinidad Malick Vocational high School she recalls taking her first class in cosmetology. In 1987 Charmaine decided to move to New York to further her career in cosmetology. Two years later she enrolled in LIBS and began to further develop her talent and passion. She is currently the Senior stylist and Colorist here at Franc Michael Salon, Brooklyn. Charmaine is a seasoned Beauty school Instructor with over 17 years of experience and in fact you will likely recognize her if you ever have to take the New York State Cosmetology exam as she sits on the board. Mrs. Mckenzie says traveling, cooking, and even simply spending family time with her husband actually influence her art form. She adds a wonderful blend of experience, patience and class to our Franc Michael Salon, Brooklyn family. Charmaine is no doubt a professional with a never-quite-quenched thirst for new techniques and trends in the Beauty Industry. Her Mantra is simple: "Find your niche, I don't try to do everything all at once". She adds "I just do one thing at a time so as to nurture the task at hand and give it the attention it needs". That very well may be the reason behind her rapidly growing base of loyal new clients here at Franc Michael Salon.
